UI Hospitals and Clinics to hold pep rally before UI men's basketball Miracle Game Nov. 1

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Patients, visitors and staff members will gather for a pep rally at 11 a.m. in the Main Lobby of University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics on Thursday, Nov. 1, in advance of that evening's Miracle Game at Carver-Hawkeye Arena between the UI men's basketball team and the Chicagoland All-Stars.

The proceeds of the Miracle Game are donated to the Children's Miracle Network (CMN), the nation's largest charitable organization. All funds raised by CMN are used to support local children's hospitals, including the Children's Hospital of Iowa.

The pep rally will feature members of the UI Marching Band, cheerleader and pom-pon squads, and an appearance by Herky. A drawing for prizes will also take place, including two tickets to the Hawkeyes' game against Duke in Chicago Nov. 27, autographed basketballs, an autographed "100 Years of Iowa Basketball" banner and Hawkeye gift baskets.

Following the pep rally, Herky and a small group of the spirit squad members will visit the children on the inpatient pediatric units.
