UI Museum of Natural History sponsors Saturday children's art programs

IOWA CITY, Iowa –- The University of Iowa Museum of Natural History will sponsor a Saturday art program for children from 1 to 2:30 p.m. beginning Saturday, Oct. 27 and continuing for five consecutive Saturdays at the Museum, Macbride Hall, on the University of Iowa campus.

The program, titled "The Nature of Art," will feature painting, drawing and craft projects with natural history themes employing museum displays and collection specimens. Open to children ages 7-12, it requires a $15 fee per child, with materials to be supplied by the museum.

Shara Rowley, museum student staff-member and a University of Iowa painting student in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, will teach the class. Rowley, of Denison, Iowa, is the recipient of the UI's Fine Arts Council Scholarship and is currently in her third year of study.
