UI to hold forum on national origin discrimination

IOWA CITY-- In the wake of the events on Sept. 11, the University of Iowa Office of Affirmative Action and the UI Diversity Committee will host a forum on National Origin Discrimination Wednesday, Oct. 17 from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the North Room of the Iowa Memorial Union. Topics to be discussed include the definition of national origin discrimination, historical context, case discussion, and university resources.

The forum, entitled "A Community of Many Nations: Addressing National Origin Discrimination," is being held in the interest of UI students, faculty and staff, and will be led by Jan Waterhouse, compliance officer, and Diane Finnerty, diversity resources coordinator, both of the Office of Affirmative Action.
