Oct. 5 public discussion to focus on university budget cuts

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa will host a free, public discussion, "Coffee and Conversation with Provost Jon Whitmore," from noon- 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5 in the Seebolm Conference Room, Room 283 of the John W. Eckstein Medical Research Building.

All interested faculty and staff are invited to join the provost in the informal open meeting to discuss Gov. Thomas Vilsack's recommendation to cut $21.9 million from the current University budget. Whitmore is soliciting broad input and would like to hear directly from faculty and staff their thoughts, concerns and ideas about the recommended budget cuts.

The session is part of a continuing series of open conversations hosted by the provost on topics of general interest and importance to the university.
