UI TO ANNOUNCE FORMATION OF IOWA CENTER FOR PUBLIC HEALTH
PREPAREDNESS NOV. 14
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa College of Public Health will
announce the establishment of the Iowa Center for Public Health Preparedness
(ICPHP) at a news conference from 11:15 to 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14 in
Medical Alumni Auditorium (E-331 General Hospital) at UI Hospitals and Clinics.
James Merchant, M.D., Dr.P.H., dean of the College of Public Health; Christopher
Atchison, associate dean for public health practice and director of the ICPHP;
and Ellen Gordon, administrator of the Iowa Emergency Management Division,
will discuss the role of this new center and answer questions from the media.
The ICPHP is funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Immediately following the news conference, the media is invited to attend
Ellen Gordon's lecture, "Preparedness and Homeland Security in Iowa"
from noon to 1 p.m. in Medical Alumni Auditorium.
