UI Hancher box office has holiday gift certificates perfect for arts lovers through Dec. 22

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The Hancher Auditorium box office at the University of Iowa is prepared for the holidays, with gift certificates and tickets for the lovers of music, theater and dance on anyone's gift list. This season the Hancher box office will remain open through Dec. 22, making UI arts gift certificates available almost until the last minute.

Hancher gift certificates, available in multiples of $5, may be redeemed during the next year for tickets to any of the UI performances handled by the Hancher box office. This includes not only the internationally renowned music, theater and dance artists presented by the auditorium, but also all the Mainstage productions of University Theatres, major productions of UI Opera Theater and the Old Gold Singers, the UI Dance Company's annual Dance Gala and the UI Band Extravaganza.

For gift-givers who know exactly what performances their recipients have been dreaming about, the box office will provide tickets to specific events during the remainder of the 2001-2002 season. Among the spring 2002 Hancher events that promise to be popular choices are the premiere of a collaboration between Bill T. Jones and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Jan. 25 and 26; the martial artistry of the Shaolin Warriors, Feb. 21-22; "Best Play" Tony Award winner "Copenhagen," Feb. 26-27; the perennially popular king'singers, March 8; and the brass and drum pageantry of "Blast!", April 2-7.

Hancher Auditorium box office business hours are 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. weekdays and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays. From the local calling area, dial (319) 335-1160.
