CORRECTION: UI memorial start time for late law professor David Vernon
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa College of Law has rescheduled
its public memorial service for David H. Vernon, professor of law, former
dean of law, interim provost and assistant to four UI presidents, to start
at 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9 at the college's Levitt Auditorium. The memorial
had been set to begin at 1 p.m. Friday.
Religious services for Vernon will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8 at Agudas
Achim Congregation, 602 E. Washington St., Iowa City.
Vernon taught law at the UI for 35 years and was the Allan D. Vestal Professor
of Law since l986 and before that was Iowa Law School Foundation Professor.
He served as president of the Association of American Law Schools (AALS) and
delegate to the American Bar Association House of Delegates, representing
AALS. He also was editor of the Journal of Legal Education, and chair of the
Board of Trustees of the Law School Admissions Council.
