Health Iowa/Student Health Service to sponsor quit smoking contest

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Young adult smokers in Johnson, Iowa, Cedar and Washington Counties have the opportunity to win prizes for giving up cigarettes as part of a contest being held at the University of Iowa.

The "BUTT OUT! Quit Smoking" contest, open to current smokers ages 18 to 24, officially will begin Monday, April 2. Participants will be asked to remain smoke-free until April 27. Participants will receive motivational e-mails throughout the event, and tips to help quit smoking are available.

The contest is sponsored by 4 Counties 4 Tobacco Control and Health Iowa/Student Health Service.

Prizes will include a trip for two to Cancun, Mexico, gift certificates, cash and more. The drawing for prizes will be May 3.
