Womens Center offers eight-week workshop on 'coming out'
The Womens Resource and Action Center at the University of Iowa will
offer "Coming Out," an eight-week discussion group beginning Wednesday,
June 20. The group will explore the joys and concerns surrounding the process
of coming out.
"Coming out as lesbian, gay, or bisexual is a life-long process,"
says Keri Neblett, support group coordinator at the Center. "The discussion
group places an emphasis on education and individual integrity. Members have
the freedom to define themselves, their sexuality, and their spirituality
in a community that will maintain all confidentialities."

Womens Center offers workshop on cultivating forgiveness
IOWA CITY, Iowa --The Women's Resource and Action Center at the University
of Iowa will offer "Cultivating Forgiveness," a group designed to
help participants explore unresolved painful experiences and learn more about
the psychological and physical health benefits of forgiveness.
"This group is important especially for women because we often get
weighed down by negative and painful experiences that are overlooked or treated
as insignificant by others. We have a lot of things to be angry about, and
the ability to cultivate and practice forgiveness contributes to our health,"
says Sharron Walker, facilitator of the group. The group structure will be
based in part on Mariah Burton Nelsons book "The Unburdened Heart:
Five Keys to Forgiveness and Freedom."
"Cultivating Forgiveness" will meet from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on
Tuesday evenings, June 19 through July 24 at the Center, 130 N. Madison.
Pre-registration is required. Call the Center at (319) 335-1486.
Women's Center offers support group for motherless daughters

have lost their mothers, will be offered on Wednesday evenings beginning June
13, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the University of Iowa Women's Resource and
Action Center, 130 N. Madison Street.
"The purpose of the group is to allow women to give voice to their
concerns and needs as they adjust to life without a mother," says group
facilitator Julie Marty. "Women are encouraged to build support for each
other, to discuss ways to handle common concerns, and to find creative ways
to continue along a healing path."
