Cancer Survivors' Day event scheduled for June 3

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Cancer survivors, families, and staff of the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Iowa will celebrate Cancer Survivors’ Day at a special event on Sunday, June 3 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the John and Mary Pappajohn Clinical Cancer Center on the 4th level of the John Pappajohn Pavilion.

The first Sunday of June is set aside to honor millions of cancer survivors around the world and to honor the memory of those who lost their personal battle with cancer. Cancer Survivor Day was first celebrated in 1987.

The event at the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center is billed as "A Celebration of Life" and will offer a midway theme. Attractions such as caricature drawings, a talent show and the music of the UI Steel Drum Band will be provided. Refreshments will also be available.

Parking will be available in the parking ramps surrounding UI Hospitals and Clinics. Take Elevator H or I to the 4th level to reach the event. For additional information, please contact Tom Moore at (319) 356-3945.
