Board of Regents approves UI Physical Therapy Program name change

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The Board of Regents, State of Iowa at its meeting July 18 in Cedar Falls approved the name change of the University of Iowa Physical Therapy Graduate Program to the UI Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science Graduate Program.

The name change better reflects the educational programs offered in physical therapy and rehabilitation science, said Richard Shields, Ph.D., associate professor in the program, which is part of the UI College of Medicine.

"We have had a long history of offering degrees in the rehabilitation sciences. Now we can better acknowledge this degree, in addition to the entry-level and advanced masters' degrees in physical therapy, as a part of the program," Shields said.
