UI offers 'Nursing in Faith Community' via ICN March 30, 31

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa College of Nursing will offer via the Iowa Communications Network (ICN) a two-day workshop "Nursing in a Faith Community" Friday and Saturday, March 30 and 31.

The workshop, offered for academic credit, will examine the history and role of the nurse who works in a faith community, with emphasis on the spiritual health care components of self, client and congregation. By the workshop's end, students should be able to describe or identify concepts such as the role of the nurse in a faith community, the historical roots of professional parish nursing and characteristics of healthy ministerial teamwork with other professionals and volunteers in a faith community.

The workshop runs from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. March 30, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 31 and is scheduled to be offered at the following ICN sites: Bettendorf, Calmar, Fort Dodge, Iowa City, Johnston, Mason City, Orange City and Spencer.

Tuition is $122 per semester hour for undergraduate and $192 per semester hour for graduates. The deadline for registration is March 9.
