UI hosts seminar on Iowa Cancer Registry

DES MOINES, Iowa -- The University of Iowa Alumni Association and the UI College of Public Health are co-sponsoring an outreach program at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, in the Oak Room at the Botanical Center in Des Moines.

Dr. Charles Lynch, professor of epidemiology at the UI, will give a presentation about the Iowa Cancer Registry, where he serves as medical director. The Iowa Cancer Registry is a statewide cancer surveillance program that monitors all Iowans newly diagnosed with cancer and follows them to determine their survival.

Lynch will highlight the goals of the Registry, including its service to communities for planning health care services, and provide examples of how it facilitates the teaching, research and service mission of the College of Public Health.

The Wednesday evening program is free and open to the public. For more information, or to register, contact the UI Alumni Association at 1-800-IOWALUM (469-2586), or visit its website:
