Wurster appointed Associate Dean in UI Graduate College

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa Graduate College has appointed Dale Eric Wurster the associate dean for academic affairs effective Jan. 1, 2002.

Wurster, professor and chair, Division of Pharmaceutics, has been a member of the UI faculty since 1982. In addition to his distinguished research and teaching, Wurster has committed many hours to university service as a mentor to graduate students, an active participant on the Graduate Council, and a member of numerous advisory committees. He serves on the editorial boards of five pharmaceutical journals and was elected a Fellow in the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists in 1998. He will have a joint appointment in the Graduate College and the College of Pharmacy.

The associate dean for academic affairs manages and supports the curriculum and academic activities of the college's nearly 100 graduate programs enrolling more than 6,000 students. Wurster will oversee academic programs and student records, address academic grievances, participate on external committees, and serve as advisor to and representative of the dean.

John Keller, interim dean of the Graduate College, said Wurster would be a great asset to the college. "Dale's skills and leadership will be invaluable in advancing the academic and research missions of the college," Keller said. "I'm pleased to welcome him to the dean's office."
