WHO: Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) hosts ambassadors and trade officials from 53 countries.

WHERE: University of Iowa Oakdale Campus, Coralville.

WHAT: The 2001 Ambassador's Tour of Iowa --"Exploring America's Heartland" organized by
Grassley. Features welcome from Grassley and remarks from ambassadors, and community leaders and UI representatives followed by lunch at Oakdale Hall on Old Hospital Road; brief tours of the National Advanced Driving Simulator, 2401 Oakdale Boulevard, and the UI's Center for Biocatalysis and Bioprocessing, 2501 Crosspark Road, Suite C100.

WHEN: 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 14.

The visit to the Oakdale Research Park will be on the second day of the weeklong bus caravan, which begins Monday Aug. 13 at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines. During the 16-city Ambassador's Tour, Grassley will show the diplomats the state's business, educational and cultural opportunities. The biennial event is the eighth ambassador's tour Grassley has organized since 1986 to promote trade opportunities for Iowans by showcasing the state's people, places and products.

The Coralville visit highlights some of UI's state-of-the-art research and educational facilities, and is sponsored by Iowa City Area Chamber of Commerce, with support from UI's Center for Biocatalysis and Bioprocessing, UI Governmental Relations, UI International Programs, the UI Oakdale Research Park, the City of Coralville and the National Advanced Driving Simulator.
