UI Staff Development offers professional development seminars

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- This fall, the University of Iowa Office of Staff Development is offering three professional development seminars where nationally recognized speakers will help attendees discover the keys to a more successful and enjoyable work life.

The first seminar is on Oct. 5 with Jim Glick, who will present "High Impact Listening Skills." In this popular seminar, participants will gain a better understanding of their own listening tendencies and practice techniques that can make an immediate impact on working relationships.

On Oct. 31, Dan DeSalvo returns to speak on "Powerful Performance Coaching Skills." In this session, managers can examine their coaching preferences through a special assessment instrument that builds upon the benefits of various coaching styles.

On Nov. 30, Cherie Cross, presents "Life Balance and Stress Reduction Solutions." Cross will focus on how stress affects people's lives and how to reduce it by understanding sources of stress, breaking stress habits, and balancing daily routines with healthy choices.

The $99 fee for each seminar at the Iowa Memorial Union includes registration, materials and refreshments. Those who attend all three programs receive a 10 percent discount. Registration deadline for the first program is Sept. 21. To register, or for more detailed seminar information, call
