UI Health Care to help sponsor local Alzheimer's Association 'Memory Walk'
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- University of Iowa Health Care will be a sponsor of the
Alzheimer's Association's Greater Iowa City Area Memory Walk 2000 on Sunday,
Sept. 24 at North Ridge Park in Coralville. On-site registration will begin
at 12:30 p.m., with the walk beginning at 1 p.m., rain or shine. The park
is located off Holiday Road.
Alzheimer's disease is an incurable disorder that destroys people's memory,
judgement and ability to reason. The disease will affect nearly 14 million
Americans by the middle of the next century. The Alzheimer's Association,
with more than 200 chapters nationwide, has invested more than $82 million
in research since 1980 to provide support to people affected by Alzheimer's
and to protect future generations from the disease.
