Three from Iowa CHAMPS present at national meeting
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- At the annual meeting of the American Association of
Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation last week in Tampa, Fla., one
clinical presentation and two posters were presented by the University of
Iowa's CHAMPS (Cardiovascular Health, Assessment, Management, and Prevention
Patricia Lounsbury, program director of Iowa CHAMPS, debated "Controversy:
Surveillance in Cardiac Rehabilitation. What Type Monitoring and How Much?"
with Henry Miller, M.D., medical director of Wake Forest Cardiac Rehabilitation.
Erik Samuelson presented his poster,
"A Comparison of Diabetic and Non-Diabetic Patients and Subsequent Ischemic
Events/Interventions in Early Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation" and
Teresa Corbisiero Finger presented a poster titled "The Role of the Cardiac
Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (RN) in Lipid Management."
Samuelson is the exercise physiologist for CHAMPS and Corbisiero Finger
heads the CHAMPS Lipid Clinic.
University of Iowa Health Care describes the partnership between
the UI College of Medicine and the UI Hospitals and Clinics and the patient
care, medical education and research programs and services they provide.
