UI group hosts public forum on student alcohol use

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- University of Iowa student organization Students for Local Politics will sponsor a forum on alcohol use by students from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15 at
The Fieldhouse Restaurant & Bar, 111 E. College St., Iowa City. UI students, UI community members and Iowa City city council members are expected to attend the forum.

Students for Local Politics is a newly organized, non-partisan student group that is dedicated to increasing student participation in local issues and campaigns.

Matt Blizek, president of Students for Local Politics, said it's important for students to be heard on this issue, one he says is of immense importance

City councilors Connie Champion, Steven Kanner and Irvin Pfab have committed to attend the forum. Other groups invited to attend the forum are the Women's Resource and Action Center, the Inter-Fraternal Council and Panhellenic Council.
