UI to host Iowa physics teachers meeting Nov. 4
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa department of physics and astronomy
is hosting the Iowa Chapter of the American Association of Physics Teachers
(IAAPT) annual meeting Saturday, Nov. 4.
The daylong conference is free and open to anyone interested in science
education, although it is geared primarily to science educators in high school
and community and liberal arts colleges. On-site registration will be available.
The meeting will be in Van Allen Hall and includes a keynote address and
several presentations, as well as a tour of the UI's recently updated instructional
labs. Presentation topics include "Learning Gains in Physics in Relation
to Students' Mathematics Skills," "Using Digital Oscilloscopes in
Introductory Physics Labs," "Use of a Bicycle Lab for Mathematical
and Graphical Analysis of Linear Motion" and "The Beauty and Physics
Manifest in Single Crystals of Novel Materials."
