Local Sertoma clubs to present gift to U of I Wendell Johnson Speech and Hearing Center

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Representatives from three local Sertoma clubs -- Old Capitol, University and Five Seasons -- will present a gift to the University of Iowa Wendell Johnson Speech and Hearing Center at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 3 in the center's clinic on the first floor (closest campus parking is Hospital Parking Ramp I or II). The gift will help support programs for youngsters with severe and profound hearing problems and is the start of an ongoing partnership between the club and the center.

UI Wendell Johnson Speech and Hearing Center clinicians who will lead the programs to assist children with their hearing impairments will attend the event. Ann Michael, Ph.D., clinic director at the center, and Richard Hurtig, Ph.D., professor and chair of the UI department of speech pathology and audiology, will also attend the event.

A digital photo of the event will be available after 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 3.
