UI Health Care researchers invite participation in stroke study

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- University of Iowa Health Care researchers are conducting a clinical trial for a new stroke prevention strategy.

Researchers in the UI Division of Cerebrovascular Disease in the department of neurology invite individuals who have had a transient ischemic attack or stroke within the last six months, but who have no history of coronary artery disease, to participate in a clinical trial of a cholesterol-lowering medication versus placebo in the prevention of transient ischemic attack and stroke in patients.

The five-year trial involves four visits the first year and then biannual visits.

For more information about the trial, call Patricia Davis, M.D., associate professor of neurology, or Lynn Vining, R.N., clinical coordinator at (319) 356-8744.
