UI Human Rights Committee plans March 6 public forum on sweatshop issue

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa Committee on Human Rights is inviting comments from members of the university community on the development of a position against the use of labor sweatshops for the production of garments and athletic gear with University of Iowa logos.

The University of Iowa Committee on Human Rights is a different entity from the University of Iowa Center for Human Rights (UICHR), which has announced today its own position on the sweatshop issue.

A public forum to discuss the issue will be Monday, March 6 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Richey Ballroom (formerly the Triangle Ballroom) on the third floor of the Iowa Memorial Union.
