Vice President for Student Services office is relocated to IMU

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The Office of the Vice President for Student Services and Dean of Students has been relocated to 249 Iowa Memorial Union from 114 Jessup Hall. Telephone and fax numbers have not been changed.

Relocating the office of Phillip Jones, dean of students, and his staff to the IMU, now places them in closer proximity to the Office of Student Life. The move is one of the first steps toward making the IMU the campus' Town Square where a number of student-centered services and meeting offices will be located.

The Town Square concept is a part of the Master Plan for Student Services, a three-phase, 10-year plan that will see various student services and departments improved and relocated into like groups or affinities.

Campus-wide student and UI employee surveys support the Master Plan planning team's design to make the UI a more integrated living and learning campus community.

The Master Plan for Student Services envisions four basic service components:

-- A Town Square, including the IMU and a linked Student Services Super Center.

-- A West Campus Neighborhood, including the existing wellness/recreation facility.

-- An East Campus Neighborhood, including a new wellness/recreation facility.

-- A North Campus Neighborhood with food service provided by the East Campus Neighborhood.
