Iowa Voyagers present travel preview show June 9

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- From the Amazon to Yellowstone, the University of Iowa Alumni Association's Iowa Voyagers travel program has destinations for everyone. You can explore all the possibilities at annual Tour 2001 Preview Show Friday, June 9 from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Levitt Center for University Advancement, One West Park Road in Iowa City.

The show includes presentations from travelers who will relate their experiences to such destinations as the Amazon River, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. Travel representatives will be on hand to describe more than 30 Iowa Voyagers destinations for 2001. Door prizes and refreshments will be available at the event, which is free and open to the public.

The Iowa Voyagers is the alumni travel program of the University of Iowa Alumni Association, offering vacation destinations that have an educational, family oriented or adventure focus.

"The Alumni Association offers the travel program to give people access to high quality educational tours. It's another link in the continuing lifelong learning process between the university and its alumni and friends," said Diane Baker-Gruwell, the program director.

In 2001, the Voyagers alumni travel program will celebrate its 40th anniversary. Last year more than 500 people took part in the program compared with the 43 people who traveled in the Alumni Association's first annual trip in 1961.

Anyone interested in educational travel is eligible to join the Iowa Voyagers. Non-alumni may also participate.
