Two UI students receive Daum Scholarships

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Two graduates of University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Dietetic Internship Program have received Kate Daum Scholarships for the year 2000.

Hope Christians Baumann will enter the UI master's degree program in Health Promotion. Upon graduation she plans to teach health and nutrition at the university level and to be involved in campus-wide health promotion campaigns and events.

Kathleen Tharp plans to complete a master's degree in the UI College of Public Health. She currently plans to pursue a career in biochemical or genetic nutritional research.

The scholarships were established in memory of Kate Daum, Ph.D., RD, by her alumni. The scholarships are awarded to students who have demonstrated academic achievement and professional promise in the field of nutrition.
