UI helps host July 15 Rural Health and Safety Fair
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The Keokuk County Rural Health
Study (KCRHS), a project within the University of Iowa College of Public Health,
is cooperating with Keokuk County EXPO, and numerous Keokuk County businesses
and groups to sponsor a Rural Health and Safety Fair. The fair will take place
on the EXPO grounds from 2 to 5 p.m., Saturday, July 15 in the Commercial
There will be activities and displays for people of
all ages. The Sigourney Fire Department will demonstrate a rescue from a wrecked
car and will be on hand to discuss their equipment. Machinery will be on site
from the Keokuk County Implement Company and Sigourney Tractor and Implement.
Experts will be available to discuss various scenarios of entanglement in
farm machinery and what to do if you are first on the scene of an accident.
Other activities and displays include a chemical safety
puppet show, grain wagon safety, hidden hazards on farms and electrical safety.
Free blood pressure screening and nerve conductivity testing for carpal tunnel
syndrome will be available.
There will be drawings for door prizes, which include
gift certificates to local businesses.
