John Colloton Pavilion patio. If the weather is inclement, the event will
be moved to the East Room, which is located on the 8th floor of the John Colloton
Pavilion. Use Elevator "F" to access the 8th floor and to reach
the East Room.
Patients with cochlear implants to meet at reunion
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Patients who have received cochlear implants for the
treatment of hearing loss will attend a special reunion and picnic at the
University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday,
The event will be hosted by the Cochlear Implant Team from the OtolaryngologyHead
and Neck Surgery Institute. Team members expect that approximately 200 patients
and their family members will attend. The picnic provides team members an
opportunity to express their appreciation for the patients' participation
in research studies that are advancing cochlear implant technology.
Cochlear implants enable patients with profound hearing loss to hear sound.
UI Health Care is one of the world's leading medical centers in using cochlear
implants to treat hearing loss. Since cochlear implants were introduced in
1982, more than 350 children and adults have been treated with the technology
at the UI Hospitals and Clinics.
