Car seat safety checks available at the Iowa County Fair

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Area parents and family members can have free car seat-safety checks from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, at the Iowa County Fair in Marengo.

Michelle Malloy, pediatric nurse-practitioner at Marengo Medical Center and UI Family Care Center, Belle Plaine, and Pat Dellamuth from the Iowa County Health Department are certified car seat-safety technicians and will check children's car seats to make sure each is secure and protective. According to recent statistics, four out of five car seats are put in incorrectly. A child’s car seat cannot be protective if it is not installed properly.

The Iowa County Fair will take place at 800 E. Marion St. in Marengo. For more information or to schedule an appointment for a car seat-safety check, call the Marengo Medical Center at
(319) 642-5213.
