Women's Center Coffeehouse celebrates second anniversary Feb. 4
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Music, theatre, an open microphone, and cake will mark
the second anniversary of the Coffeehouse sponsored by the Women's Resource
and Action Center Coffeehouse at the University of Iowa. Headliners for the
Friday, Feb. 4 celebration are Graffiti Theatre and singer/songwriter Amy
Carder. The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. at 10 S. Gilbert.
"Both Graffiti Theatre and Carder are perennial Coffeehouse favorites,"
notes co-organizer Angie Lellig. Graffiti Theatre has performed at several
Coffeehouses, including a standing-room only performance of the original work,
"Pirate Queens," in August 1999.
"Amy Carder has been playing off and on since early 1998, but we haven't
seen her for several months," says co-organizer Suzi Steffen. "We
can't wait to have her back on our stage."
After the headline performers, the stage is opened to other women performers.
The Coffeehouse is free, but a donation will be requested at the door. To
sign up for open mike or for more information, please call the Women's Center
at 319) 335-1486.
