Women's Center offers six-week program on self-esteem

IOWA CITY, Iowa — The Women's Resource and Action Center is offering a six-week program called "Self Esteem: Learning About Me," beginning Monday, Jan. 31. The group will meet Mondays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Women's Center, 130 N. Madison St., across from the Iowa Memorial Union at the University of Iowa.

This support group is designed to help members overcome low self-esteem and explore how self-esteem develops. The group will also explore body image and how our outer appearance is not the complete definition of ourselves.

"Self Esteem affects how we relate to others, what we do and don't do, and how we view the world," says Keri Neblett, WRAC Group Coordinator. "It is important to look at how our self-esteem is constructed and realize that we have the ability to change our view of ourselves."

Women of color are encouraged to attend. For more information or to arrange for accommodations and child care, call the Women's Center at (319) 335-1486.
