UI researchers seek men, women for high cholesterol studies

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Men and women with high cholesterol are invited to take part in one of several studies being conducted at the University of Iowa College of Medicine. Healthy men and women age 18 and older may be able to participate in one of the research projects at the UI Lipid Research Clinic. Free cholesterol tests will be provided as part of the screening process.

The studies will evaluate and compare the effectiveness and safety of different cholesterol-lowering medicines alone and in combination with other drugs. The number of visits will vary with the length of each study. Physical exams, laboratory evaluations, nutrition counseling, and compensation will be provided to participants in all studies.
