Audiology services available Tuesday, Thursday evenings at UI Wendell Johnson Center

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa Wendell Johnson Speech and Hearing Center has extended its audiology services for adults and children. Services will now be available from
4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays in addition to regular hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

Adults and children who have concerns about their hearing or individuals who have a hearing loss or other auditory disorder may call the center to schedule an evaluation and receive treatment, including hearing aid assessment and fitting. The evening hours are being offered to accommodate the schedules of parents and other adults who work during the day.

"The extended hours will better meet the community's needs," said Jodi Heimer, UI clinical assistant professor of speech pathology and audiology. "We already are booking many evening appointments."

Heimer, who joined the UI faculty this year and supervises the audiology services, said graduate students will conduct the hearing assessments under the direction of departmental faculty members.
