Open House at Women's Resource and Action Center

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The Women's Resource and Action Center (WRAC) will hold its annual open house to kick off the new academic year on Wednesday, Aug. 23. from 4 to 6 p.m. at the center, 130 N. Madison Street.

The open house provides an opportunity for UI students, faculty and staff and members of the community to meet the WRAC staff and learn about the activities and services of the center.

The theme of this year's reception, "Phenomenal Women," includes recognition of WRAC's longest-serving staff member, Laurie Haag, who is celebrating 10 years of service at the center. "Laurie is truly a 'phenomenal woman' in the life of the center," says Linda Kroon, administrative coordinator. "Her creativity and imagination play a vital role in the success of so many aspects of the center, from her amazing graphic design skills in producing publicity materials for our services and events to her vision and collaborative efforts in creating and continuing events such as the Iowa Women's Music Festival."

The event is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be provided. For more information, contact the Women's Center at 335-1486.
