UI Hospitals and Clinics Director Howell named to Iowa Business Council
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- R. Edward Howell, director and CEO of the University
of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, was recently appointed as vice chair of the
Iowa Business Council.
The Iowa Business Council was formed to focus the active personal commitment
of major employers in statewide issues to enhance the economic vitality of
Iowa. Its members are chief decision-makers of major Iowa employers. The council
meets quarterly to identify issues facing businesses within the state, to
evaluate options and to assist in implementing solutions.
"It is an honor to be selected for this post," Howell said. "I
am looking forward to serving my fellow members of the council and helping
to upgrade the business climate within the state for all of the citizens of
The Iowa Business Council works in partnership with state and local governments.
The council includes representatives from 24 major employers across the state.
Howell's tenure as vice chair of the council will continue until June 2001.
He will then serve a one-year term as chairman of the council.

UI College of Medicine and the UI Hospitals and Clinics and the patient care,
medical education and research programs and services they provide.
