IOWA CITY, Iowa -- People with compulsive gambling problems are invited to participate in a University of Iowa Health Care study on the condition.

Participants must be 18 or older and experiencing uncontrolled and excessive gambling. Participants will be expected to make one visit to the UI for an approximately one-and-a-half hour session involving interviews and questionnaires. In some cases, a person may be interviewed over the phone. Compensation will be provided.

The goal of the study is to find out more about people with compulsive gambling behavior and the problems that they and their families encounter, said Donald W. Black, M.D., UI professor of psychiatry and lead investigator of the study.
