UI silent film series concludes with Hitchcock's 'The Ring' May 3

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa's Institute for Cinema & Culture's ongoing seminar "Fourteen Weeks of Nostalgia for the Early Days of Feature Films" offers weekly screenings of silent films with live musical accompaniment. The next screening, May 3, will be of Alfred Hitchcock's "The Ring." This will be the last screening of the semester. It will be held at 7 p.m. in 101 Becker Communication Studies Building. There will be a discussion after the film. The screening is free and open to the public. For further information, call the Institute for Cinema & Culture, 335-1348.

New alumni show airs on KSUI/WSUI

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Starting April 29 and 30, a new half-hour radio series on KSUI and WSUI will keep listeners in touch with the University of Iowa Alumni Association. On the first "UI Alumni on the Air," Vince Nelson, executive director of the Association discusses how the organization works, and will highlight some of its projects to benefit alumni across the state and the U.S.

Staci Prochaska, project assistant at the Association, will talk about Spring Reunion Weekend, scheduled for June 8-11 at the UI. Hosted by Charlie Mason, "UI Alumni on the Air" airs this Saturday, April 29 at 9 p.m. and Sunday, April 30 at 3:30 p.m. on WSUI AM 910 and this Sunday, April 30 at 5:30 p.m. on KSUI FM 91.7.
