UI College of Liberal Arts recognizes long-serving staff members
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts recently
honored nearly 150 staff members who have served the college for 10 or more
years, including a group of 13 who have worked 30 or more years in the college.
The honorees come from nearly every department within the college and work
in a variety of positions including, secretaries, program assistants, engineers,
systems support technicians, and research scientists.
At a reception held in their honor, Linda Maxson, dean of the College of
Liberal Arts, said the collective years of service by the staff members represent
"extraordinary dedication to our academic mission. Over the years, your
daily efforts and high standards have contributed to making the University
of Iowa an institution of ever increasing distinction."
Staff members honored for 30 or more years of service to the college are
listed alphabetically by hometown:
Roger Anderson, a research scientist in the department of physics and astronomy;
Robert Brechwald, a systems support manager in the department of physics
Barbara Clark, a secretary in the department of biological sciences;
Lloyd Frei, an engineer in the department of psychology;
Eugene Howard, an electrical technician in the department of physics and
Marsha Koehler, a clerk in the department of chemistry;
Robert Olney, an engineer in the department of communication studies;
Larry Schroeder, an engineer in the department of physics and astronomy;
Mary Strottman, an administrative assistant in the department of history;
Margie Watkinson, a secretary in the department of speech pathology and audiology;
Margaret Driscol, a secretary in the department of mathematics;
Sandra Stockman, an administrative assistant in the department of mathematics;
Beverly Sweet, a secretary in the School of Social Work.
