Old Capitol volunteers are honored

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Some 50 volunteers who serve at the Old Capitol Museum were honored at the twenty-fourth annual recognition reception held April 12.

Recognition for their continuing support and faithful service to Old Capitol was given to Miriam Canter for more than 3,000 hours, Phyllis Evans for contributing more than 2,500 hours and
Vilda Sutherlin for contributing more than 1,500 hours.

Lucile Floyd has contributed more than 1,000 hours. Included on the Roll of Honor with more than 500 volunteer hours are Judy Brookhaus, Imogene Fisher, Ilene Greenwood, Jane Huit, Irene Kortanek and Pauline Wright.

Roy Justis received the 200-hour pin and the 100-hour pin was awarded to Flower Silliman. New volunteers Brandi Campbell and Deborah Linderman earned their certificates.

Volunteers have contributed more than 82,000 hours in welcoming more than 697,000 visitors since the museum opened in 1976.
