UI College of Engineering offers April 20 distinguished faculty lecture
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa College of Engineering will host
a lecture, "Design of Structures in Materials," by Dr. Rohit K.
Trivedi, Anson Marston Distinguished Professor of Materials Science and Engineering,
Iowa State University at 4:30 p.m. Thursday,
April 20 in Room 100 of Phillips Hall.
Free and open to the public, the talk is a part of the Iowa Distinguished
Faculty in Engineering Lecture Series between the UI and the ISU Colleges
Trivedi, who is also a senior scientist at the Department of Energy's Ames
Laboratory, conducts research in the fields of solidification, solid-solid
phase transformation, and surface properties. The recipient of the 1999 David
R. Boylan Eminent Faculty Award for Research, Trivedi is a Fellow of American
Society for Metals, International (ASM), the editor of two volumes on solidification
processing, and the author of a textbook, "Materials in Art and Technology."
Trivedi earned his master's degree and doctorate from Carnegie Mellon University,
Pittsburgh, Pa. and currently teaches a wide range of courses from the freshman
level through the advanced graduate level.
