Deer Creek Family Care physician completes requirements for membership in AAFP

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Mushtaq Ahmed, M.D., a family physician with Deer Creek Family Care in Toledo, has completed continuing medical education requirements to retain his active membership in the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). Ahmed has been an active member of the AAFP since 1996.

AAFP members are required to complete a minimum of 150 hours of accredited continuing medical study every three years. The academy, which is the national association of family physicians, has 89,000 members and is one of the largest medical specialty organizations in the country.

The specialty of family practice was recognized in 1969 by the American Medical Association and the American Board of Medical Specialties. It combines the latest in medical technologies with a long tradition of caring and service. Today's family physician is educated and trained to care for the whole person while treating the majority of medical problems.
