IOWA CITY, Iowa -- There's still time to either participate with or support the staff of University of Iowa Heart Care in the upcoming American Heart Association Heart Walk, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 2 in Iowa City.

UI Heart Care is the presenting sponsor of the event. Registration for the Heart Walk begins at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 2. The registration table will be located in one of the covered pavilions in lower City Park, near the pond. Parking is available in the nearby central parking lot or next to the tennis courts and baseball fields. The participants will begin the 3.1 mile (5 kilometer) walk at 9:30 a.m.

"The American Heart Association, through events such as the Heart Walk, raises funds that are vital in the fight against heart disease," said Michael Winniford, M.D., physician director of UI Heart Care. "The AHA provides valuable support to our efforts to prevent and treat heart disease, and to conduct research that advances our ability to care for patients. We are proud to be involved in this important community event."
