Homecoming activities planned for alumni reunion celebrations

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- University of Iowa alumni celebrating their class reunions will have a full slate of activities to enjoy during the University of Iowa Alumni Association's Homecoming Reunion Weekend Oct. 22-23.

The Alumni Association is hosting reunions for UI Classes of 1974, 1979 and 1989, along with the College of Pharmacy Classes of 1969 and 1994, the College of Law, Nursing and Liberal Arts Class of 1969, and the Henry B. Tippie College of Business Class of 1994.

College events, class dinners and pre-game tailgates are just some of the activities Homecoming Weekend. In addition, all alumni are invited to the Alumni Association's Third Annual Homecoming Tailgate before the Iowa/Indiana game Saturday, Oct. 23.

More than 300 graduates are registered to attend Homecoming Reunion Weekend, and the Association expects 400 to attend the tailgate at the UI Recreation Building, just a block away from Kinnick Stadium.

"The Alumni Homecoming Tailgate is a great opportunity for all alumni to come back to campus and enjoy fun, food and Hawkeye football," said Staci Prochaska, the Alumni Association's reunion director. The pre-game festivities are in an indoor setting with a lunch buffet and great Hawkeye prizes, plus appearances by Herky, the UI cheerleaders, and the Alumni and Marching Bands.

Kickoff for the game is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. in Kinnick Stadium (subject to change). Most game-day activities, including the Alumni Tailgate, begin two hours prior to kickoff. Registration deadline for the Alumni Association activities is Oct. 7. For more information, call the Alumni Association at (800) IOWALUM or (319) 335-3294.
