Tuition will be topic for Oct. 4 fireside chat with President Coleman

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- University of Iowa President Mary Sue Coleman is continuing her tradition of holding "fireside chats" to provide students with an opportunity to communicate their concerns and ideas directly to her and her cabinet. The proposed tuition increase will be among the topics discussed at the next chat which is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. in the R. Wayne Richey Ballroom, Iowa Memorial Union.

Invitations have been sent to 500 students chosen at random from the Registrar's list of current students. All interested students are welcome to attend.

This is the fourth year Coleman has held these informal discussions with students. As in past years, a senior member of her administration will participate in each of the chats. Phillip E. Jones, vice president for student services and dean of students will join Coleman at this event.

The chats are co-sponsored by the UI Student Government and the President's Office.

Future fireside chats are scheduled for:
November 15, 1999
February 7, 2000
March 27, 2000
May 1, 2000
