Nov. 12 lecture, Nov. 13 symposium are on tissue engineering
IOWA CITY, Iowa Tissue engineering will be
the topic of a Friday, Nov. 12 lecture and a Saturday, Nov. 13 symposium at
the University of Iowa.
A UI College of Engineering Caterpillar Colloquium
Series lecture will be given by Dawn Applegate, senior project manager at
Advanced Tissue Sciences, La Jolla, Calif., at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12 in
Lecture Room 1 of Van Allen Hall. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Applegate will also speak at a Tissue Engineering
Symposium scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. and continue until 4:30 p.m. Saturday,
Nov. 13 at the Iowa Memorial Union. Hosted by the College of Engineering departments
of biomedical engineering and chemical and biochemical engineering, the symposium
will be an informational meeting on the status of UI tissue engineering research.
The meeting will include presentations by faculty from the UI colleges of
engineering, medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and liberal arts. Support for the
symposium is being provided by the deans of the colleges of engineering, medicine
and dentistry and the Office of the Vice President for Research. Further information
