Health Fair Oct. 27 to offer free health tests and information

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Health Fair ’99, a one-day event featuring free health screenings, fitness tests and information booths, will seek to increase health awareness throughout the University of Iowa and the Iowa City community Wednesday, Oct. 27.

"I’m All About Health," the fair co-sponsored by Health Iowa/Student Health Service and the UI department of sport, health, leisure and physical studies, will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the main deck of the UI Fieldhouse. The event is free and open to the public.

The fair will feature more than 25 booths offering screenings of cholesterol and lung function, fitness tests including body fat, flexibility and aerobic endurance, and information tables on stress, breast cancer and women’s and men’s health. Professionals from the UI Hospitals and Clinics, Student Health Service and the community will provide the tests.

In addition, visitors may undergo a hearing assessment, receive a massage and pick up free food and prizes. Students may also receive a flu shot for $13, charged to the students’ IDs.
