Parents, Partners Day at College of Law scheduled for Oct. 30

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Parents, partners, family and friends of University of Iowa College of Law students will see first-hand what life as a law student is like, learn the philosophy of law training, and other facets about law study at Iowa at the college’s annual Parents and Partners Day, Saturday, Oct. 30.

The day’s events begin at 8 a.m. with law school building tours and proceeds with a mid-morning mock law class taught by law Professor James Tomkovicz and a panel of students. Events continue with a mid-day barbecue and culminates at 8 p.m. with "The Wizard of Laws," a law school musical, put on by law students, staff and faculty. The musical is a free and public event and will be held at the second floor ballroom in the Iowa Memorial Union. All other events take place at the College of Law.

Parents and Partners Day is held at no cost to attendees and is designed to introduce students’ parents and their significant others to the pedagogy and professional culture of legal education in a way that is both enlightening and entertaining.

Parents and Partners Day is organized by the Iowa Student Bar Association and the Office of the Dean. For more information about the day, contact the College of Law at 319-335-9034.
