Lesbian Reading Group begins Oct. 21 at Women’s Center

IOWA CITY, Iowa — A biweekly discussion group for lesbians to have a safe and comfortable environment to discuss various books will begin Thursday, Oct. 21 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the University of Iowa Women’s Resource and Action Center, across from the Iowa Memorial Union.

The "Lesbian Reading Group" focuses on empowering lesbian women to learn from each other and to provide a sense of community among group members. "There are so few safe places in town for lesbians to meet on a regular basis, relax, have coffee and engage in thought provoking conversation," says Keri Neblett, support group coordinator for the Women’s Center.

Please call the Women’s Center at 335-1486 for more information or to register.

The group’s facilitator has a degree in Latin American Literature with an emphasis in women writers. Suggested readings will be provided and group members can also choose which books to read and discuss.
