Marengo Memorial Hospital to offer orthopaedic services

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Marengo Memorial Hospital now offers orthopaedic care for its patients. An orthopaedic surgeon from University of Iowa Health Care will be available for consultation in the hospital's orthopaedic outreach clinic.

William Pontarelli, M.D., a graduate of the UI College of Medicine, has been in practice for 18 years as an orthopaedic surgeon. Pontarelli, a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, specializes in fracture healing and the treatment of lower back pain.

"We're excited about the opportunity to offer orthopaedic care in Marengo. This new clinic is a convenient way of bringing specialized care close to patients' homes," said John Fieselmann, M.D., director of the Joint Office for Clinical Outreach and Clinical Care Coordination at UI Health Care.

Appointments with Pontarelli can be made for the morning of every first and third Wednesday by calling Marengo Memorial Hospital at (319) 642-5543. Most insurance plans are accepted; patients covered by an HMO should check for coverage with their insurance providers.

Marengo Memorial Hospital is an affiliate of UI Health Care.
