'Coming Out' support group begins Oct. 19 at Women's
IOWA CITY, Iowa The joys and concerns surrounding
the process of 'coming out' as a lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender is
the focus of an eight-week discussion group beginning Tuesday, Oct. 19 at
the University of Iowa Women's Resource and Action Center (across from the
Iowa Memorial Union).
"Coming out is a life-long process," says Keri Neblett,
support group coordinator at the Women's Center. "The 'Coming Out' discussion
group emphasizes education and individual integrity. Participants will not
be pressured to come out in all areas of their lives. Group members will have
the freedom to define themselves, their sexuality and their spirituality in
a community that maintains all confidentialities," Neblett adds.
